Prefontaine Classic Tickets
BTC Youth,
We have an exciting opportunity for you to witness some world-class track and field just down the road in Eugene. The Prefontaine Classic is part of the professional Diamond League circuit and it is one of the premier track and field events in the world every year. This year we are offering free tickets on a first come first served basis to BTC youth athletes and their parents. The meet this year will take place on Friday and Saturday, May 25th and 26th, with most of the program taking place on Saturday. Initially we would like to limit the tickets to a maximum of 1 parent per athlete so we can offer the opportunity to as many youth athletes as possible. We a handful of BTC Pros racing, we are hoping to have a good cheering section together!
If you are interested, please check out the links to the meet schedule below and sign up on the form. We do not know exactly how many tickets we will have but it will be roughly 50. Again, tickets will be on a first come, first served basis. Signing up does not guarantee you have a ticket. We will follow-up and confirm the list we a able to provide tickets for early next week. If you are interested, please sign-up ASAP.
We are also looking into the possibility of providing a bus for transportation down and back on Saturday (would miss Friday races). The bus would leave Portland/Beaverton around 8:30 am and return around 7:30 pm. Please indicate on your sign-up form if you would be interested in a bus.

It will be a great opportunity for local kids to race and spectate some great competition. If you are a 3rd and 4th grader currently involved in CYO, please don’t register because the 3rd/4th grade CYO championships are the same day! For 5th-9th graders looking for an extra race before the CYO championships the following week, the race will be perfect. The cost is $10 per athlete.

Unfortunately, I just found out the Mia Hamm reception @ Nike is not able to give these out this year. If you want your bib and tee shirt before race day you are welcome to pick it up from me at my house in Lake Oswego - 940 Cumberland Rd, 97034 one evening this week. Or email me at chris.cook@nike.com if you'd like to try and pick it up from me directly at Nike during the day.
Any numbers that haven't been picked up I will bring to the Bowerman Tent on Race day. The tent will be in the usual spot just north of the start on the grass.

Tuesday Pre-Track Practice - Questionable Weather
Please note that tomorrow has Snow in the forecast. Please judge for yourself if it is smart to come to practice depending what your commute home afterwards looks like - the snow is forecast to start coming down between 5 and 6pm.
Right now practice is on. But please check your email at 2pm tomorrow as we'll be sending out an update based on how the forecast changes. At 2pm tomorrow we'll declare if practice is ON or OFF for Tuesday.

Pre-Track Practice Starts Tuesday!
Pre-Track Practice: February 13th - March 8th
Just another reminder that Pre-Track Practice starts this coming Tuesday! To get our kids ready for the track season, we will hold practices on Tuesday/Thursday 5:00-6:15 pm at the Michael Johnson Track on Nike Campus. The Pre-Track program is only a total of 8 practices and is meant to give kids a jumpstart to get ready for their school or CYO track program. All of our youth XC members are welcome, as well as newcomers. Feel free to bring along a friend! No additional sign-up is required if you ran cross country with us this fall. If you are new, please fill out the waiver sign-up by following the link below.
PARENTS!
New this spring we will have a parents running group during kids practice. If you are interested in running during practice time, come to practice ready to run and you can join a group of parents planning to run and provide some introductory training while the kids get their workout in! Parents running will be led by Jason Moore. If you have any questions about the parents running group, contact Jason.

Shamrock Sign-Up Update
Attention anyone looking to sign-up for Shamrock. The race recently changed their policy of what type of discount they are giving our club for sign-up. In addition to selecting the Team Member Sign-Up and entering "Bowerman TC" for team name, you can also enter "BOWERMAN2018" as a discount code at checkout for a 15% discount on the entry. Apologies to anyone that has already signed up. We've been told that they cannot retroactively refund any registrations.
