Bowerman Track Club cemented its presence in history at the 2003 Hood to Coast Relay Race, when it raced under the original club name “Bowerman Athletic Club” for the very first time. The namesake was earned from a handshake agreement between Barbara Bowerman and team captains at her kitchen table in Oregon.
