Dominic Arce

Youth head coach

Athletic Experience

A Portland native, “Coach Dom” was a BTC Youth athlete in the program’s early years, then attended Lincoln High School and ran collegiately for Gonzaga University under the guidance of Pat Tyson. At Gonzaga, Arce was part of 3 NCAA XC Championships teams, and set the program record in the indoor 5k. Today, Dom trains with BTC Elite team, focusing primarily on the marathon. In 2025, Arce won the BMO Vancouver Marathon, setting a new course record in 2:14.32. (You can ask him his other PRs 😜 )

Coaching Experience

Coach Dom has been coaching with BTC since 2023 and leads both the Nike and Lake Oswego practice locations. Dom has also been integral part of the Bowerman Running Camp since it’s launch in 2019. His coaching philosophy has been strongly influenced by his high school and college coaches Eric Dettman, Charlotte Richardson, and Pat Tyson.

Coach Dom believes strongly in fostering a love for running and always prioritizes healthy growth and longevity in the sport over short term risks.

“As an athlete, I am most proud of my consistent, year upon year improvement. I have run PRs every year since I started in 5th grade, and I still have a lot of big goals ahead. I’m proud to be an example to my athletes that loving this sport and showing up every day with an attitude to improve can get you there.”
