3K Summer Series is a GO for tonight!

The air is fresh, the otter pops are frozen, and we are ready to go for tonight's Summer Series Race! As always this event is FREE TO ENTER. Kids, parents, siblings, cousins, neighbors are all welcome! This will unfortunately be our last race of the summer and it will be an age handicapped pursuit race: athletes will get a head start based on their age group. Race time is 6pm and we will meet on the Joan Benoit Samuelson patio before heading over to the Hollister trail.

As always there will be lots of prizes for our winners, otter pops for everyone, and a BTC pro to sign autographs and answer questions. You can register ahead of time HERE. (We know it says 5k, but trust us, that's the link you want!) You can also register in person from 5pm to 5:45. We will have chip timing at this year's 3K series so registering ahead of time is preferable. If you register beforehand you will still have to swing by and pick up your bib and chip.

The JBS patio is just northwest of the track on the Nike campus. It is right next to the pond and we will have a big Bowerman tent up, so if you proceed towards the pond you should see out there!

URGENT: 3k Series Cancelled for 8/21

The Summer 3k Series race tonight (8/21) is cancelled because of Unhealthy air quality. We apologize that this has happened two weeks in a row, but the air quality in Beaverton is still rated as "Unhealthy" and is projected to worsen this evening. Hopefully things will be clear next week and we can resume this great tradition!

URGENT: 3k Series CANCELLED for 8/15

The Summer 3k Series race tonight (8/15) is cancelled because of Unhealthy air quality. Given the reactions some of our athletes have had to exercising in these conditions and the relative inexperience of many of our participants, it is not advisable to race tonight. We apologize for the late notice. We hoped to give it a go based on the forecast, but things did not clear up as expected.

The 3k Series will continue as scheduled next week!

Saturday Summer Runs

In an effort to stay connected to Youth athletes past and present, we will be (very loosely) organizing a group run on Saturdays during the summer. Beginning THIS SATURDAY (June 30th) we will meet at 9am at the Michael Johnson track for a run. Various BTC pros and youth coaches will be in attendance as their schedules allow. There will be no real "coaching" at these meet ups, just a gathering point for everyone to set out on their Saturday runs. As such, we advise that only older middle schoolers whose parents feel comfortable letting them run by themselves attend. If you have a younger athlete and want to come and run with them, that is great as well! Just be aware that the structure will not be as formal as practice in the fall.

Current/former BTC athletes, parents, siblings, friends, teammates, etc are all welcome! If you want to go for a run and you like BTC, come on out! We hope that this will be a fun, low pressure way to build community and little bit of fitness over the summer months.

BTC Youth,

We have an exciting opportunity for you to witness some world-class track and field just down the road in Eugene.  The Prefontaine Classic is part of the professional Diamond League circuit and it is one of the premier track and field events in the world every year.  This year we are offering free tickets on a first come first served basis to BTC youth athletes and their parents.  The meet this year will take place on Friday and Saturday, May 25th and 26th, with most of the program taking place on Saturday.  Initially we would like to limit the tickets to a maximum of 1 parent per athlete so we can offer the opportunity to as many youth athletes as possible.  We a handful of BTC Pros racing, we are hoping to have a good cheering section together!

If you are interested, please check out the links to the meet schedule below and sign up on the form.  We do not know exactly how many tickets we will have but it will be roughly 50.  Again, tickets will be on a first come, first served basis.  Signing up does not guarantee you have a ticket.  We will follow-up and confirm the list we a able to provide tickets for early next week.  If you are interested, please sign-up ASAP.

We are also looking into the possibility of providing a bus for transportation down and back on Saturday (would miss Friday races).  The bus would leave Portland/Beaverton around 8:30 am and return around 7:30 pm.  Please indicate on your sign-up form if you would be interested in a bus.
