Lorilynn was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, and moved to Portland when she was hired as a sports biomechanist in the Nike Sport Research Lab in the year 2000.  She started getting involved in running when she was about 8 years old and never stopped.  Lorilynn ran cross country, track, and road races from that age through high school (St. Joseph’s High School). In high school she specialized in the 800 ad 1600. In college at Purdue University she specialized in the 1500 and 3000.  She continued to compete post-collegiately for a team called the Indiana Invaders until moving to Portland for her job at Nike.  She then competed on the Nike Portland team in track, cross country, and road racing.  Lorilynn ran most of her personal bests in her early 30’s before giving the marathon a try followed by starting a family.  Now Lorilynn is in what calls her “Post-Sam PR’s” and “Post-Zoe PR’s.”.  She has always loved the sport for many reasons - the feel of a good, hard workout, the alone time running provides, being outdoors, and the friendships made over the years.  She loves challenging herself, but also a good, slow jog that allows her to take in the sights, smells, and atmosphere, and being alone with her thoughts while hearing/feeling the breath going in and out. Lorilynn REALLY enjoys competing as a Master, because she feels like she has found herself in running. Her motto is: "Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, always smile and laugh on the starting line, and HAVE FUN.  Otherwise, why be out there?" Her current FAVORITE distance to race is the 5K.
